Plenty of people dream of driving the entire west coast, and there’s no better place to start than in California. In this first part of a three part series, you’ll explore the 101 starting in Los Angeles, hitting both cities and National Parks along the way. The spots I’ve chosen will give you the most diverse view of California as a whole, and will spark the wanderlust that will keep you wanting more from this magical highway as you enter Oregon, and maybe even Washington.
On this almost 800 mile road trip through California, you’ll explore the coast starting in Los Angeles, and hitting major California sites like San Francisco and the California Redwoods. As you make your way up the 101, you’re sure to fall in love with the road, as it’s one of the prettiest highways in the state. The 101 stretches from Southern California to Northern Washington, so once you reach the end of this trip, there’s still plenty of road to explore in Oregon and Washington.
